Custom Launcher V2 – Configurations / Sets / etc. by Grant Hess

To start with, there are 3 levels of control over packages and such…

At the lowest level, the package or sim or world, etc. You can enable or disable the item completely. This is used only when something is either always available or never available. Generally you will only use this for troubleshooting or just before deleting an item permanently.

At the next level, you can configure sets of content. All content from a given set will be consolidated into it’s own ModBUILDx.package files. So if you have sets that never change, you should never have to wait for them to rebuild. These sets are designed to let the player keep all of a similar group of content together… For example, a medieval set or a sci-fi set.

Finally, at the highest level, the user can set up configurations where each individual set can be enabled or disabled. For example if the player is working on a medieval challenge, it may require certain mods be disabled to prevent cheating, while in normal play the user may have the same medieval content but also add mods to simplify game-play. Each configuration has its own set of save files that are managed to keep the saves from being corrupted due to missing content.
